RESCUE TO RELEASE

A movement to save our sea turtles and heal our ocean, one turtle at a time.

Imagine being part of something extraordinary—a movement that not only rescues endangered sea turtles but also helps restore the balance of our oceans. Today, you have the chance to do just that. Thanks to the generous support of The ETHAPAX Fund and Trustees of the Pacific, Robin and John Renfro, your gift will be matched dollar for dollar, doubling its impact.

Sea turtles have been silent guardians of our oceans for millions of years, but they are now facing threats that have brought them to the brink of extinction. Loggerheads, Green, and Olive Ridley's—once thriving—are now struggling to survive, their habitats threatened by pollution, fishing nets, and climate change. But with your help, we can give them a second chance.
At the Aquarium of the Pacific, we are building a future where these ancient guardians of the ocean can flourish once again.
Your support will provide life-saving medical care, expand our rehabilitation facilities, and ensure that every turtle we rescue has the opportunity to return to the wild, where they belong.

This isn’t just about protecting a species—it’s about restoring balance to our oceans and safeguarding the ecosystems that depend on them. By joining this movement, you’re helping to ensure that future generations will experience the wonder of seeing sea turtles thrive in our oceans.

Our Challenge:

Sea turtles are essential "guardians of the ocean," playing a crucial role in maintaining the health and balance of marine ecosystems. By helping to sustain vibrant coral reefs and seagrass beds, sea turtles create vital habitats that support a wide variety of marine life. Their presence is also key to the ocean's food web, facilitating the transfer of nutrients between the water and the land.

However, over the past few decades, these ancient creatures have been pushed to the brink of extinction, with some populations plummeting by 90%. As their numbers dwindle, so too does their ability to fulfill their vital role in nature. The threats they face are largely human-driven: habitat loss, pollution, entanglement and injury in commercial fisheries, and the far-reaching impacts of climate change.

Our Vision:

For over 23 years, the Aquarium of the Pacific has proudly partnered with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to rescue, rehabilitate, and release stranded sea turtles along the Los Angeles coastline.

While we’ve made incredible strides, our Sea Turtle Rehabilitation and Release Program has faced a recurring challenge—our current resources, including pools, medical supplies, and monitoring technology, are not always available when emergencies strike. This makes it difficult to respond swiftly to sea turtle strandings when they occur.

With your help, we can change that. Your support will enable us to expand our infrastructure and dedicate vital resources exclusively to sea turtle rehabilitation. Together, we can renew our commitment to NOAA and ensure that we’re ready to respond to every sea turtle stranding along the Los Angeles County coastline as the designated agent within the West Coast Sea Turtle Stranding Network.
