Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Program
Thanks to supporters like you, the Aquarium recently released a rescued green sea turtle affectionately nicknamed Porkchop. Porkchop’s story is a reminder of what’s possible with the support of our community.
But even as we celebrate this success, we are preparing for the next call. This January, we received another rescued green sea turtle who is recovering behind-the-scenes at the Aquarium.
Thanks to generous supporters, the Aquarium recently opened a new sea turtle rehabilitation pool. This dedicated space doubles our capacity to care for sick and injured turtles like Porkchop. But our work doesn’t stop with one successful release. And now, we need your support to ensure that the Aquarium can continue to respond the moment another turtle needs our help.
Sea turtles have been a vital part of ocean ecosystems for millions of years, but are now facing challenges that threaten their future. But with your help, we can give them a second chance.
For over 24 years, the Aquarium of the Pacific has proudly partnered with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to rescue, rehabilitate, and release stranded sea turtles along the Southern California coastline.
